This is the tour poster for the maccabees. The only image and colour on the whole poster is the album cover, which uses mostly primary colours. I quite like this is as it draws attention to the album cover, however makes the rest of the poster quite boring. The bold capitals are simple and easy to read, and go with the simpleness of the primary colours. This poster is not for the album release therefore does not focus on that, however does mention it at the bottom. The text mainly focuses on tour dates. I think there would be much less text if this were for an album release. I like the boldness of the main logo, however it doesn't give much away about the type of music it is.
This is Laura Marlings album release poster. This has much less information because there are no tour dates, however I think that there could be a lot more information, such as when it is released, the record company, where it can be bought from, any reviews of the album. However, it is very easy to find out things about the artist due to the internet so if someone wanted to know if she was touring they would have to find out for themselves. I think the look of the poster is very stylish, I like the small areas of colour in the font, contrasted with the black and white image, which is actually the album cover. I also like the very plain font, however again it doesn't give much away about the type of music, you would have to find that out for yourself as well.
This is an example of a very plain poster advertising an album release. The band didn't need to reflect their music in the poster, as they were already a national success by this album. The typography is the same as the typography used on the album cover, showing synergy, however this one doesnt show the actual album cover on the poster. This one is more informative than the Laura Marling poster, as it has the release date on the poster, and names of the singles. I don't think this poster is very attractive or appealing, however the band did not need to sell records with this poster, they just needed to advertise the release date, the album would sell itself. We are not treating our music video as an album that will sell itself, so our poster will have more detail.
